Breakfast in Bed: Maple Pecan Latte
THE MAPLE PECAN LATTE RECIPE YOU'VE GOTTA TRY AT HOME!
If you love Starbucks® Maple Pecan Latte, you're gonna flat-out flip for this recipe.
It's all the maple and pecan flavors tied up with a wisp of woodsy, smoky campfires that make this simple drink everything fall should be.
The key ingredient is maple syrup smoked with pecan wood. No, really! It's a thing and oh, baby, does it make this drink easy.
For the coffee, brew up some espresso or dark-roast coffee. My Nespresso CitiZ maker is perfect for this task using their Arpeggio flavor espresso pod, but you can brew it any way you want -- pour over, coffee maker, espresso maker. Just be sure it's hot and bold.
Whip up the cream any which way, too. A whisk will work as you heat the cream in a small pot over the stove. Or use a battery-powered handheld milk frother. (These coffee godsends are super cheap! Check out the buying guide below.) I use my electric Nespresso milk frothing pot, and that does the job easily too.
This silky smooth latte is a mug of everything we love about fall: flannel shirts, leaves, fires, and nutty maple wonderfulness.
MAPLE PECAN LATTE
Smoky pecan infused maple syrup is the key to this copycat Starbucks® Maple Pecan Latte recipe.
Makes: 1 latte
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 5 mins
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons maple syrup smoked with pecan wood (see buying guide below)
1/2 cup brewed espresso (or strong coffee)
1/2 cup cream or half-and-half, heated and frothed
Raw turbinado sugar (optional; for sprinkling)
Extra maple syrup smoked with pecan wood (optional; for drizzling)
Instructions:
Add maple syrup to bottom of cup. Pour hot brewed espresso over syrup and stir to combine.
Heat and froth cream using a milk frothing pitcher. (Alternately, heat cream over stove, using a whisk or handheld frothing wand to whip until foamy.)
Using a knife or offset spatula to hold foam back, pour heated cream into the espresso mixture. Spoon the reserved foam on top of drink.
To garnish, sprinkle top with raw turbinado sugar and drizzle with a small amount of extra syrup if desired. Serve immediately.
NOTE: If sweeter drink is preferred, add 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk or simple syrup to the maple syrup in Step 1, adjusting maple syrup amount to taste.
